In the process of creating an ODX database, we need to input a large amount of data and cope with multiple data formats. This is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive, but also easy to make mistakes, leading to inefficiency and slow development. Based on years of diagnostic experience in the automot-ive industry, we developed VisualODX — an automatic ODX data conversion tool that uses standard Excel diag-nostic questionnaires to describe ECU di-agnostic specifications, and through which Excel files can be automatically converted into ODX/PDX/CDD/DEXT data files. I. ODX/PDX Overview
ODX (Open Diagnostic data eXchange) files are an opened standardized diagnostic data format for the exchange of diagnostic data throughout the vehicle lifecy-cle. PDX is the compressed file format for ODX file. ODX is a data format defined by ASAM to describe diagnostic specifications(MCD-2 D/ISO 22901-1). The ODX diagnostic standard is now used by major OEMs.

- • Customized ODX templates based on OEM's specifications, with odx-c/odx-cs/partial odx-d files included in the templates
- • The client follows a standard Excel diagnostic questionnaire to complete the diagnostic information form
- • Load ODX templates and Excel diagnostic questionnaires through VisualODX to generate standard ODX/PDX/CDD/DEXT databases (which can be used in later stages of development, testing, production and after-sales)
