From July 01, 2021, according to Circular 15/2020/TT-BTTTT, businesses are required to test and declare the conformity of Lithium batteries according to QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT standards.
This is the national technical standard for Lithium batteries used in handheld devices (phones, tablets, laptops). It specifies the scope of application, testing standards, regulations on management, responsibilities of organizations and individuals, as well as technical requirements for Lithium batteries used in handheld devices participating in the Lithium battery safety management program managed by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Types of Lithium batteries that are mandatory for testing
Types of Lithium batteries subject to testing and conformity declaration according to QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT include:

- Removable Lithium batteries for mobile phones. This does not apply to removable Lithium batteries used as power bank batteries for charging these devices.

- Removable Lithium batteries for laptops and tablets. This does not apply to removable Lithium batteries used as power bank batteries for charging these devices.

- Lithium batteries embedded/attached in mobile phones, laptops, and tablets are understood as an integral part that cannot be separated from the device.

Depending on the listed prices of each testing center, the cost of lithium battery testing may vary around 25 million VND, taking 8-15 days per model.
